Today's actions alone aren't all there were on the topic of religious warfare. During the Middle Ages, there was a period of a handful of crusades. This time, it was the Christians that started the battle. Both the Orthodox and Catholic churches demanded for Christian states to send troops in order to retake the holy land, or now known as Jerusalem. The series of the Crusades alone allowed people to kill a large amount of people, from 1 million to 3 million, under god's name. Another good example to state is Israel and the Palestinian state. Due to their conflicting beliefs about the ownership of Jerusalem, these two countries have been fighting each other for decades now, the most infamous part of their conflict took place in the Gaza strip. To summarize the purpose of this gruesome passage, people have been practicing and worshipping something that can't be proven to be authentic, and use it as an excuse to kill righteously.
Religious issues didn't only stop in warfare, but it also affected daily life for some in this society. The effects varied from a wide variation of moral in-justifications. For instance, during the reign of the Aztecs, they decided to practice a ritual called human sacrificing. They believed that with human sacrifices, the gods would be pleased and reward them with weather that would help them with their crops. Through a belief, a myth, people were already starting to harm each other under god's name. Homophobia is another issue that is seen in religious worlds. For instance, Christians are against homosexuality and some even considers it as a disorder, due to the fact that they believe "god" didn't create humans for that purpose and that it is unnatural. Because of this, many homosexuals aren't able to enjoy the freedom of being homosexuals. Religion in the Middle East, other than warfare, has also affected everyday life. In the Islamic beliefs, women are viewed upon lowly.
