Behind the Scenes in Human Resources

This was a step towards job analysis, selection, training and rewards" (Assan, 2015, P. 5). With that said I feel like with what is going on today in society and workplace trends really affect human resources. The major thing that that comes to my mind is how society really believes that you owe them something when in fact they haven't even done anything to help benefit the company. When anyone starts working you start to figure out that some of the employees think that just because they have been there for a period of time it doesn't matter how their performance is that they should be the one that gets a promotion. With the trends that are going on now it seems that it takes no time and if you are good enough that you are going to move up in the company, but if they do not then as the human resource employee you are going to have a hard time keeping that person there just because they believe that even though they haven't been performing great that they have been there long enough and deserve it. .
Also another major workplace trend that is affecting HR is companies being sexist with women. With that said the human resources employee has to be careful how they handle the situation that is going on, because if they were to not handle it correctly or ask a question that makes the woman feel out of place or in an awkward situation. This has to be very stressful because in the work place everyone knows that there are sexually charged inside jokes that do go on and some women do hear them and play along while others are highly offended, thus making any sort of sexual innuendo a risky thing to partake in. Many in the retail industry are skeptical about the value of investing in frontline service employees. "The argument is that with high turnover and few apparent differences among applicants, HR should simply use the "cheapest way of getting warm bodies." This is the "value challenge" facing human resources in a more general aspect" (Ployhard, Weekley, Ramsey, P.
