Exercise Physiology Report - Mud Running

The affect this physiological change had on my mud running performance was as I had breathed lots and quite heavily my breathing rate got larger. Because it did this I could complete the tough guy and gal challenge because I could get out of that thick mud.
A short-term physiological change that occurred in my muscular system during the Tough Guy and Gal Challenge was muscle soreness. This occurred during the Tough Guy and Gal Challenge after I was running up one of the steepest hills my gastrocnemius muscles started aching as I was not used to running up such a steep muddy hill with shoes that give me hardly any support. If I was to wear my soccer boots it would be much easier to grip into the ground and I wouldn't of had to waste of my energy by trying to stay balanced. This physiological change occurred because the reason why I got sore gastrocnemius muscles is because of the lactic acid gathering up in my muscles. Lactic acid stores up after you do hard exercise makes the feeling of your muscles feeling really sore and tight. The affect this physiological change had on my mud running performance was because I was tired I had to do lots of walking especially after the really thick mud and up the steep muddy hills. I was tired because of the feeling of muscles soreness in my gastrocnemius muscles.
             2. How/why is the major energy system used in Mud Running and how/why does that affect the way you run?.
             • What is the major energy system? Explain this energy system in detail.
             • Why is this the major energy system? Provide examples.
             • What other energy systems were used? Explain each energy system in detail.
             • How/why does this affect the way you run?.
The major energy system used during the Tough Guy and Gal Challenge was the aerobic system. This energy system relies on the breaking down of fats, carbohydrates allowing it to produce ATP but because this system depends on oxygen to eliminate carbs and fat, lactic acid doesn't build up therefore it has no effect on your performance.
