Human Trafficking in the United States


" Lakshmi was thirty-four year old woman from India. She has a five kids and an ailing husband, also she was her family's only earner. She was promised 2000 Dollar per month for a babysitting. Therefore she came to the United States to support her family but she was ended up becoming a domestic slave. She was beaten several times, raped and paid nothing. The reason Lakshmi could not runaway, because she didn't know the language and she was frightened. This was a story of a Lakshmi, how she ended up becoming a domestic slave. .
             Poverty is the primary cause in human trafficking. It has been known that poverty leads to a lack of education leading to no employment and that leading to sex trafficking by fighting poverty many believe that there will be an end to sex trafficking too. Woman living in the poor countries will not be looking into sex driven businesses for work. Trafficking is intimately linked to poverty. Wherever hardship and economic success, there will be those poor and anxious enough to enter into the fraudulent employment schemes that are the most common intake systems in the world of trafficking. In the book the Slave Next Door Lakshmi was an example of a poor girl who ended up becoming a domestic slave. The reason she was leave her country and moved to United States to give her family a better life. She was the only earner of her family of five kids and ill husband. For the survival of her poor family she agreed to move to the United States, but she was tricked by that guy and didn't get any pay. Poor people are helpless against this kind of situation because all they worry about their family.
             Government corruption is also causes human trafficking. The victims are moved from one country to other without any documentation. This is not possible without any officials help. The government people are paid huge amount of money to help the smugglers. Furthermore, when the criminal caught by the police then the jury is fail to do justice.
