My Trip to New York City


            People say, "If you can make it here, you can make it anywhere." The quote refers to life in New York City and how being successful in the city means you can succeed anywhere. Summer arrived and it was the opportune time to discover why the statement defines New York City. My family decided a trip to New York City would provide a new perspective given that it is different from where I live. I was up for the challenge, a new place to learn new things. It was an opportune moment to discover the city and discover why it is a challenge to live in the city.
             In just the immediate summer before my joining high school, my family and I embarked on a trip to a completely new world. Having come from a small town, I must confess that I had not been exposed to elements of such a large and diligent city as New York City. In fact, I won't be shy saying that my trip there was similar to discovering a new way of life that I only used to hear stories of. In the morning of the flight, I checked the availability of my entire essentials to make sure that I had not left anything behind. Soon went arrived at the airport, and despite having flips in my stomach, I persevered it all even as the runway zoomed by and houses started becoming smaller and smaller. I really yearned to be in one of the most magnificent cities of the United States. .
             Everyone seemed to be in a hurry to catch up with one thing or the other. In fact, I could tell a few minutes after landing that New York was not like Texas, Houston or any other city in US. It was until we reached our hotel at Times Square that I realized that not only the motorists were in a hurry. People on the street were walking at fast pace, an indication that they were rushing to get somewhere. The transportation system of this city was also far different from what I had ever come across. In my hometown, bikes and small cars were perfectly used for getting around the town.
