Children and the Impact of Divorce


The mom patiently went back and forth with her decision for a while and decided to take the road to Texas but the hardest thing she had to do was leave her boys behind, but it all hopes of bringing them with her soon. As they stayed behind with dad, things were a bit different. The boys had to adjust to not physically seeing their mom every day. The closest they would get to see their mom was a Facetime call every now and then. By this time school had started, and they were a bit rough for the boys. The dad was still a fireman meaning he was working twenty four hours and off forty eight hours. The nights dad was not home were the nights they had to spend with either their grandparents or their godparents.
             ​Homework had to be done and when the one person in the world you want to help is six hours away, things tend to be bit frustrating. The children are still trying to adjust and as they get older, they begin to think are they the problem. The mom moving to Texas, not only lead to separation, but eventually a divorce. How do you explain to children that their mom and dad probably will not ever be together again? Seeing those children try to keep their happy composure was heartbreaking. The oldest son was smart enough to understand what was going on from the beginning. His feelings are all over the place. He wants both parents together but does not know how to tell them what he really wants. He does not want them argue and fight, all he wants is his family back. The youngest son is going through the "mama's baby stage." He just wants to be with his mama and does not mind telling anyone about it.​ ​So the boys' adjustment gets a little better. School got a better with help from family. Now, another big change was about to happen. The mom had got everything situated in Texas by the end of the school year and wanted the boys to move. In the midst of deciding would the boys stay or go the dad got a job offer at a Nissan plant and fire department in another city.
