The civil war s a crucial time period for the Bolsheviks, where survival was key resulting in a committed single vision leading the Bolsheviks, whilst some of Trotsky's decisions led to debates, it was overall accepted and Lenin's policies rather allowed for a more unified party. Survival was necessary and was accepted by the entire party resulting in all other ideologies placed behind and rather the goal of survival placed in the forefront, and as a result the party was able to change for the mood of the country, shaping Russian history. Despite Trotsky's decision of reintroducing tsarist generals sparking debate, especially with Stalin, the necessity of it, and Lenin's control over the party, allowed for a decisive victory and in turn shaped Russian history, where leadership conflict played a very small role. Moreover, Lenin's early popular communist measures were changed which in turn was accepted by the party including the removal of worker rights, and the re-institution of conscription and army hierarchy. Furthermore, Lenin introduced a ban on factionalism allowing for a more unified country, and hence, leadership and conflict played a minor role, whilst Lenin's leadership and rather the party's ability to adapt to the needs of the country shaped its history. The response to the Krondstadt rebellion saw great division within the party with Kollontai and others very angry about it. .
