The Book of Job

And they showed him sympathy and comforted him for all the evil that the LORD had brought upon him. And each of them gave him a piece of money and a ring of gold. And the LORD blessed the latter days of Job more than his beginning." (Job 42:10-12) Through the darkness in his life hope gave him the light to continue onward. Through that hope Job was able to persist and fight temptation. In doing so, God gave him two folds of what he lost.
             One may ask, if God is omniscient and good, why does evil and suffering exist, especially for good people? Why do good people have to suffer? Evil is the lack or absence of good; the reason why people suffer and experience evil is because God is love in and of itself. He cannot contradict himself; therefore he cannot impose his will on humans. Humans have free will to choose good or to choose evil. Evil lacks any substance and is essentially just a lack of good. Does evil go unpunished? There is a Heaven and a Hell, God allows us to decide if we damn ourselves or save ourselves. Job shows us that God isn't concerned with punishing evil but rather giving us his love and goodness; about goodness being triumphant.
             God loves us more than we love each other, in the case; God wants what is good for us and to make us happy. One may ask, does God test us with suffering? God did not necessarily test Job but allowed Satan to take everything away from him and making him very ill, to see what is Job's heart is made of. God allows evil and suffering because He cannot contradict free will since he is love per se. Through suffering one's faith is challenged and revealed if it is weak or strong. When God allows suffering he is testing if our faith is real or not. The Book of Job is a great example of God allowing suffering because Job's faith and loyalty to God amidst evil allowed him to get through the suffering and receive many more blessings. Even though Job lost everything and was ill he did not turn his heart away from God, 'In all this Job did not sin or charge God with wrong' (Job 1:22).
