Nike, Adidas and the NBA

The target market of the Adidas advertisement is for NBA fans who know these players when they were superstars, not necessarily for being old now. The advertisement is for people who have been avid NBA fans since the early 2000's. If children who are between the ages 6 to 10 saw this advertisement, they would be turned off by Adidas because they simply wouldn't know who these players are. The Nike advertisement is much more inspirational and is meant for the people rather for the NBA. This target market would be for anyone who is on a basketball team and knows what it is like to be apart of a team. A basketball team is your family, you practice 24 hours a day, 7 days a week with them. They all go to the trainer before practice and go out to eat with them after practice. Spending more time with teammates during the basketball season, than with their own families Brothers off the basketball court and soldiers standing in the way of the opponent on the court. The target markets vary completely from each advertisement, yet both of them still produce consumers willing to buy their products.
The next part of the advertisement that differ from each other are the color schemes that the companies decided to choose. Within the Nike advertisement the picture is black and white, to express a side of power and motivation within the advertisement itself. The meaning behind a black and white advertisement is for the consumer to not be so distracted by all the bright colors, but to see the point and bigger picture. Nike is well known for their black and white styled advertisements that attract the consumers extremely well. The Adidas advertisement has color and has some graphic effects as well. The picture is perceived to have the athletes running in slow motion because they move too fast and jump too high. There are five different players and each player has on their respective team jersey which shows that Adidas diversifies their athletes and are present everywhere in the NBA.
