Enemies

Often times the enemies people form can provide a small insight as to the true character of a person. The qualities of a person's enemy may often resemble the qualities that person lacks, or maybe just the qualities they dislike. Yet because the causes of the problems between two enemies vary, I feel it is very difficult to tell whether the distrust comes out of jealousy, or just plain disapproval of the other's interests.
People who have many enemies are often very self-conscious. They form enemies with those who possess the qualities that they, themselves, wish they had. These people go to any extent to discredit or cause harm to their enemies. This is a very negative characteristic, as it is harmful to both people involved. These people may go to any extent necessary to bring the other person down, and to achieve some kind of personal gratification. .
Jealousy, however, is not always the cause of one's disapproval of another. It is not uncommon that people form enemies solely on the basis that they disapprove of another's beliefs, attitudes, or the decisions they make. Ironically, people who openly speak badly of their enemy's beliefs are often guilty of that belief themselves. By discrediting the other they try to disguise their true feelings. .
For these reasons, I feel it is difficult to acquire any accurate judgements as to the characteristics of a person based solely on who their enemies are. I also feel that a good, open-minded person makes no real enemies, as they are able to cope with and accept the differences of others. .
