Nothing

Hello, my name is Marlow, and I am here today to talk about my story of the disastrous experiences I had in the river Congo that I"m sure all of you are familiar with. Today though I will discuss just exactly how I told the story, how I developed my own character and how I am used in revealing the main theme.
As you all know the key theme is about the true nature of man and how dark our hearts really are. I was used to control and develop the theme through my actions, words, and thoughts. .
Entering the Congo, I was a man of morals. I absolutely indulged in searching unkown territory. Africa on a map, to me was "The biggest, the most blank, so to speak - that I had a hankering after." My views on imperialism were just like anyone else coming in from Europe; a good thing that brings light and religion to the people of Africa. But unlike the other people I met on my journey, I was completely unaware of the chaos that goes on in the Congo, being blinded by civilization my whole life.
When I arrived in the outer station, being virgin to this new uncivilized region just appalled me. These black people were being mistreated by the whites and were being told to do meaningless things. It disturbed me a great deal. You remember the part where the blacks were being forced to blast away at this big rock. It was pointless, like firing into a continent. So at this point you could tell that my views on imperialism were starting to change.
Also at the outer station is where I became aware of Kurtz who I was fascinated by. He was an important part of the development of my character in the story. In many ways he was just like me entering the Congo. A missionary with good intentions and bright ideas. He is used in the story as a foreshadowing of what I was to become.
             .
Being a very observant man I made sure to throw out my observations of the Congo into the story to help develop my character as well as the main theme.
