Abortion- right or wrong?

Abortion is the intentional premature expulsion of the foetus from the womb. The law in the UK allows an abortion to take place if; to continue in the pregnancy would cause a risk of injury to the physical or mental health of the woman, greater than those of going through an abortion, risk to existing children or if the baby is going to have a serious handicap. The 1967 Abortion Act says that if two doctors agree that the baby is a risk to the mother's life then an abortion can take place, this is excluding Northern Ireland. This can be performed up to the end of the 24th week of pregnancy. .
Many Christians oppose abortion. One reason is that they believe that the unborn baby is special, different and has potential personalities and have a lot to offer in life. Every aborted foetus was a potential human being, perhaps even a Beethoven or an Einstein. Another reason is that if abortion is acceptable, where do we draw the line? They consider abortion is a form of infanticide. What's the difference between killing a child of two and an unborn baby? They"re going to grow up to be the same thing. .
Their views are centred about a principle called the sanctity of life. This means Christians believe that humans are made in the image of God and they are set apart from God and special. A good verse that backs up this is In Genesis 1 it says "God created human beings making them to be like him." Not only did God make us, but also He values us. The Bible tells us of a God who is in love with us so much so that He became one of us and even died for us while we were still offending Him. Another verse that opposes abortion is 1st Corinthians 3 16 - 17. It says, "You should know that you yourselves are God's temple. God's spirit lives in you. If anyone destroys God's temple, God will destroy him, because God's temple is holy. You yourselves are God's temple." .
             .
Although many different Christians have different opinions about abortion, most would be against it, there are only a few circumstances were some would find it acceptable.
