Although Simon is bewilderingly and naturally kind, the want of this trait and the overwhelming abundance of evil is demonstrated when he is diabolically murdered by the other boys. .
Ralph morality is strong, but not as strong as his incredible work ethic. At the beginning of the novel, while all of the other boys are merely concerned with playing and eating, Ralph sets about building huts and figuring out how to get them off of the island. Ralph is elected leader because of his commanding presence and his ideas of what to do. At the beginning, he held power over everyone else because they were in awe of him. However, as they became barbaric and savage, Ralph's power slimmed and Jack's power increased. Ralph's morality shows through the strongest when he throws the Lord of the Flies to the ground and defends himself with the stick. It also shows through as the reader understands that Ralph knows that all boys have some evil, but he is determined not to let it take him over. Most of the time, Ralph doesn't understand why the other boys are so barbaric and bloodthirsty. After he kills a boar, he is frightened by the excitement he feels, and he feels it once again when he participates in the killing of Simon. He is traumatized by this knowledge that even he can be filled with evil, as is shown when he weeps at the end of the novel.
Piggy is moral- almost to the point where the reader finds him annoying, partly because of his morality and partly because of the uncanny feeling that it is not true natural morality, like Simon's, but morality brought on solely by the pressures of society. This is demonstrated when he is caught up in the thrill of the chase and his evil desires take him over and he participates in the hunt dance. Piggy represents intellectual and scientific aspects of the culture which they left back home. He is always the character to think up new devices for their island culture, but the basis is solely for his own comfort.
