Privacy Essay

I do not think that there is any way we could increase our privacy or add new laws in the United States. Privacy is too broad to make laws for it. For example, photographers taking pictures of people out in a public area. If someone is doing something funny or acting ridiculous, and they are out of their own home, people that walk around with cameras are bound to snap a few shots. No one can argue that the photographer is invading anyone's privacy. Adjusting citizens privacy to an even higher degree would be too much of an extreme. You might as well ban cameras in any public area after that.
I agree with the statement, "If someone is being a jerk, it's like he's asking me to come take his picture." If you are making a scene, you are asking for attention. Why do you think people do crazy things in public? Of course they want others to look at them or else they'd do it at home. If Capturing this on film is wrong, then where do you draw the line of public behavior? Is that asking people to not cause scenes? I think that would be almost impossible to do. Unless they banned having cameras in public areas, which is almost just as impossible. But then that brings to attention camera phones.
The new, hot item out in the cell phone business is camera phones. People who see something out of the ordinary at any moment, can take a picture with their phone. The image can be sent to their friends' cell phone or any email address of their choice. So the argued side of the story is that now people whose pictures are captured in the phones, can do absolutely nothing about where their picture ends up. Well, if they are that concerned about it, don't go anywhere. That is seriously the only way you have 100% guarantee of your picture never being taken without your permission. .
But what about the pictures that are taken whether you like it or not? Those include ATM machine cameras, surveillance cameras, elevators, buses, etc.
