             Journalists distort the news we see in the media everyday. Information is misrepresented in the headlines, the lead and the facts. This in turn distorts the public's opinion. The concept of Spin is introduced "to favorably reflect upon one view or another." (---------) Spinning with diction and grammar is called loaded language. "Spinning with loaded language is the use of selective diction and grammatical construction to reflect the news organization's bias on a story." (--------) Journalists today must be fair, accurate and show empathy. They have a duty to be objective in their work but this is rarely accomplished because they are consistently taking objective material and turning it into opinionated material with language usage. .
             Bias exists in the media but a lot of people are in denial and don't want to believe that its there. Grand truth in information is very is very different to obtain these days. The journalists dispensing this bias are not interested in simply reporting the facts and letting the reader/viewer judge for themselves. While it is not surprising that human nature can drive reporters of facts to report them unfairly so as to gain support for their hidden agenda, the practice has now gotten to the point where "grand truth" cannot be separated from the hidden agenda and therefore the public cannot establish for themselves what they should think.
             According to Marshall McLuhan and his medium theory, "Media, apart from whatever content is transmitted, impact individuals and society." (--our book 305 ) As a result, America has become largely dependent on misinformation on judging critical issues ranging from war to the economy and terrorism to morality.
