Evil: Uncontrollable Spirit or Creation from greed

What is evil? Several people say evil is not controllable, that some spiritual force takes over and makes you do what you do, and many others say it is created out of ones own greed and hatred. Throughout the play Hamlet written by Shakespeare, many different situations involve the presence of evil, including decisions, actions and consequences. Firstly, Hamlet must decide whether or not the ghost he spoke with is good or evil. Secondly, Hamlet must deal with Claudius" dark plans and schemes, to bring Hamlet down. Lastly, Hamlet must also take precautions of his own state, as he himself might be on the evil side. These important situations, are an advancement, which created most action in the play and are greatly significant because without them, the plot would be plain and tedious. Hamlet must make many decisions where he must decide if evil is taking over.
In the play Hamlet. King Hamlet is murdered by his own brother Claudius. King Hamlet appears after his death as a ghost and wants to speak with Hamlet, therefore Hamlet follows him and listens to what he has to say. King Hamlet recites "The serpent that did string thy father's life, now wears his crown." (Act 1, Scene 5) After hamlet found out that his own Uncle murdered his father, and married his mother, he is furious and does as his father tells him, and tempts to seek revenge. Before Hamlet can get his revenge, he must first decide whether his ghost father was actually his father or an evil spirit, trying to drag him down to hell. This is proven in the quote " Do not itself unkennel in one speech. It is a damned ghost that we have seen. And my imaginations are foul as Vulcan's stithy." (Act 3, Scene 2) This speech was spoken right before the play. Hamlet decided to put this play on with the same occurrences as what happened with Claudius and King hamlet to test Claudius" reactions. After this play, Hamlet notices that the King is not at ease, and realizes that the spirit, was in fact his father.
