After choosing one song that I feel is an unquestionably "good" piece of art right away I came up with a few aspects that seem to be applicable to all art in my opinion. The particular song that I chose is called Lucky, by Radiohead. However, having analyzed the components that make this interesting I need not even explain specifically how they apply to my choice, for they will remain apparent. .
When taking in what a work of art has to offer the first impression I am given is through its intensity or volume. Whether it is ranging from extremely sharp edges and colors to the softest hum of a tune, there is no limit to what art can do to ones imagination using this form of portrayal.
There is a distinct tempo and rhythm of design that comes shortly after the intensity when viewing a work for what it is. Naturally, music will contain a given tempo, but even in a drawing or sculpture a certain rhythm of design can be applied. This can give the object a methodical feel, much like the slow intentional beat of the song I chose as the basis for this analysis.
Maybe the least tangible of all facets being explored here consist of the lyrics or melody present. This I feel is the essence of each and every work, the very emotion that the artist wants you to experience. However, no matter what the artist originally intended the meaning to be almost any work of art can be adapted to what the viewer or person appreciating feels that it means. For, no one ever knows the entirety of the artist's intention. But, the thoughts and feelings that are inspired by an uninformed viewer can in this case for me turn out to be what I feel is very "good" art.
