             An interior designer is professionally trained to create a functional and quality interior environment. Qualified through education, experience and examination, a professional designer can identify, research and creatively resolve issues and lead to a healthy, safe and comfortable physical environment. An interior designer creates a space that is functional, efficient and safe and enhances the quality of the working and living environment.
             The interior design student studies in areas such as space planning, layout, lighting design, building and design technology, AutoCAD, cross-cultural history, theories of design, rendering, color/pattern coordination, cost estimating, purchasing, and contracting. The program emphasizes a broad, ecological perspective in order to help people integrate the physical, social and psychological qualities of their workplaces, residences, and public spaces. In addition to courses relating to interior design, the curriculum requires courses from the humanities, social sciences, sciences, and business. Students are prepared for a variety of entry level positions including residential interior designer, contract, commercial or institutional designer.
             Salary Range .
             Salary range as with most professions is pretty broad. You may begin as a junior level assistant at the mid $20's and proceed to be a partner in the $200,000's+. If you specialize in an area, your income potential greatly increases. It is unfortunately too broad to pin point.
