He is basically looking out for his father. But Creon thinks that Haemon is just saying all of this to side with a woman. Creon talks about the importance of having loyal sons, the foolishness of taking an evil wife. Haemon not only kills himself to be with his love but also for the love and respect of his father. Haemon's love for Antigone caused him to commit suicide when he found her dead body. Creon's wife's love for Haemon made her kill herself when she found out about his death.
