Unlike most teenagers, she doesn't care about what others thought about her. Being incredibly nice to everyone is one of Jamie's characteristics. She spent her life helping other people - visiting the orphanage, helping the elders, tutor unfortunate kids and other bunch of community service. She has faith in herself and she was grateful being who she was. Jamie is a very patient and kind person - someone who's very rare to find in every day's life. Although she knew she doesn't have much time left to live because of leukemia, she still has such a positive attitude towards life.
Despite being so different, they fell in love. When Landon met Jamie, he discovers what true love really means. He even tried to fulfill each and every one of Jamie's goals in life. He became the kind of guy who wouldn't give up for something that he loves; instead he would fight for it. Even though being with Jamie cost him his social status, from being high citizen to a low citizen and was alienated from his popular friends, but he stand up and face it. This was proven more evidently, when Jamie told him about the leukemia that she suffered. Instead of panicking or running away, Landon stayed right beside Jamie through all the time, until the very end of it. .
However, Jamie's disease is unpreventable. Slowly, Jamie's health was weakening. Knowing his lover will eventually die, Landon feels helpless. Landon cried himself night by night, asking God about His "plan". Jamie always told him "God has a better plan for us", but Landon doubted it. Being together tested everything that they believe in. Most of all, it tested the power of love and faith to transform a life into something worth living for. One night, Landon discovered what he could do with his love. He asked Jamie to marry him. Jamie was tremendously delighted, as being married in his father's church is her final goal in life. .
Although Jamie died not long after their marriage, Landon never regrets a thing.
