The History of The Guillotine


            
             The guillotine, also known as the execution machine was invented by Dr. The guillotine was introduced to the public in 1972. His theory for inventing the guillotine was for the pain to be quick and not have the citizens suffer. It was so quick that it could cut off a head in 2/100 of a second. It was also said that when the head of a person was chopped off, it could take up to fifth-teen minutes before the victim would loose its hearing and eyesight.

             During the last 132 days of the reign of terror, more than 2,100 people were beheaded. About 5% were first estate victims, 10% second estate victims, and the rest were third estate victims. The Guillotine killed over 40,000 people total and it killed some of the most popular people around at that time. The guillotine had killed many popular people like Maximillen Robespibespierre was executed by the guillotine on July 27, 1974. Also Dr. Joseph Guillotine was executed by his own machine the guillotine.

             Here is a time line of the guillotine from the years 1791 to 1977.
             1791-In march the assembly approves , that every person condemned to the de3ath penalty shall have there head severed.
             1772-In November the first victims were tested, which were sheep's and calves. The first performed execution was done in Paris to Jacques Nicolas Pelletier.
             1793-Louis XVI and Marie Antoinette loose there heads.
             1794-The Guillotine was installed at the palace de Bastille for a short while until it was brought to Barrieredu Trome.
             1870-A new improved guillotine was available, with new locks, and new hinges and lock mechanisms.
             1939-The guillotine had its last public execution which was done in France.
             1977-The Last execution ever done in France on September 10, in Marsille, France.

             Before the guillotine was invented there were several other form of punishments. Like, Be burned to a your death, being strangles, getting hung, being broken on a wheel, getting dismemberment, and also being pulled apart by horses.
