Bridget Jone's Diary

" This scene was shown differently in the movie. In the movie they pretty much deleted this scene from the book. They didn't even mention the ice-queen mantra that she was supposed to be repeating. The only thing they showed in the movie was Bridget and Daniel in the process of shagging. This scene was very important to the movie because it again shows the relationship between Tom and Bridget. It shows that Tom is Bridget's confidence. He gives her the tools for self-esteem and the movie doesn't even show him giving her these tools when it is the basis of their relationship.
Bridget is comforted by Tom and feels that when things go wrong he is the one she should run to. When Bridget finds a woman at Daniels she is extremely upset and debates on whether or not to call Tom and give him all the details. She finally decides to go over and be comforted by Tom. Once she gets to Toms she is at peace with the alcohol and feeling much better. This scene with her and Tom was also cut from the movie. The only part they did show was Bridget walking back to her house and sulking in her misery. That scene between Bridget in Tom from the novel should not have been deleted from the movie. It gave a certain light to Bridget and Tom's relationship. That scene made you feel that woman and men can have a healthy friendship. It shows that just because Tom's homosexual and a man, doesn't men he can't be a best friend with a single woman.
Tom can be a true friend to Bridget even when it means maybe hurting her feelings but it will save her the embarrassment when everyone at the party see the amount of make-up she is wearing. In the novel Bridget decides to doll herself up a little to go out with Tom. When Bridget shows up at Tom's flat with a little bit more make - up on than a movie star. Tom looks at like she is a freak from the circus and helps her remove some of the excess make - up. In the movie they also do not even mention this scene at all.
