             Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,.
            
            
             And looked down one as far as I could .
             To where it bent in the undergrowth; .
             Then took the other, as just as fair, .
             And having perhaps the better claim, .
             Because it was grassy and wanted wear; .
             Though as for that the passing there .
             Had worn them really about the same,.
             And both that morning equally lay .
             In leaves no step had trodden black.
             Oh, I kept the first for another day!.
             Yet knowing how way leads on to way, .
             I doubted if I should ever come back.
             I shall be telling this with a sigh .
             Somewhere ages and ages hence:.
             Two roads diverged in a wood, and I- .
             I took the one less traveled by, .
             And that has made all the difference.

             The Poem that I chose for this assignment was The Road Not Taken by Robert Frost. This exceptional poem has a clear message right from the start. The opening two lines are evident of that. "Two roads diverged in a yellow wood, //And sorry I could not travel both." This leads one to believe that the speaker is stuck at a point in life where decisions are to be made. The speaker can only choose one choice hence the line "And sorry I could not travel both." This poem is about a decision that the speaker has to make; to travel down one road or another. One road looks better than the other, but both of them lay there before him looking like they both deserved to be traveled upon. The speaker chose the one that was traveled on by a few. Because of the speaker's actions, it has "made all the difference.".
             The most important metaphor in the poem, is the two roads. They represent the choices that we make in life. The speaker chose the one that was not popular by others and that was the best decision for him to make. The first road is the road that most people take. The second road is the one less traveled upon. They both appear to be good choices, but to the speaker, picking the one less traveled upon is the best option.
