Cancer is the second leading cause of death in the United States of America. Cancer is a disease that is very serious and fatal, but do we really know what cancer is and what causes cancer? The answer is no. Cancer occurs when cells in a part of the body begins to grow out of control. Normal cells divide and grow in an orderly fashion, but cancer cells do not. They continue to grow and crowd out normal cells. There may be many types of cancer, but all of them have this out-of-control growth of cells in common, but different kinds of cancer can behave very different. Lung cancer and breast cancer are very different diseases. They grow at different fates and respond to different treatments. The types of cancers are as follows; breast, cervical, colorectal, lung, lymphoma, prostate, skin, stomach, testicular, and more. This is why people with different types of cancer need the treatment that aims their kind of cancer. If the spread of abnormal cells is not controlled it can lead to death. Cancer is caused by both external factors and internal factors. So how can you prevent getting cancer? .
It all depends on you. All cancers caused by smoking and use of alcohol could be prevented completely. The American Cancer Society estimates that in 2004 about 180,000 cancer deaths are expected to be caused by tobacco use and about 22,000 cancer deaths may be related to excessive alcohol use. Other cancers are related to infectious exposures like hepatitis B virus, HPV, HIV, helicobacter and others that can be prevented through behavior changes, vaccines, or antibiotics. There are over a million skin cancers that are from the sun and can be prevented by protection from sunrays. Going into surgery can prevent other cancers like breast, .
colon, rectum, cervix, prostate, testis, and oral cavity. One should always self-examine themselves for cancer of the breast, testis, and skin and go for annual checkups.
