Georgette Forney, the director of the National Organization of Episcopalians for life, and co- founder of the Silent No More Campaign, had an abortion at 16 and regrets her decision. She tells LifeNews.com, "Hearing woman after woman speak about the problems created by abortion really puts this issue in perspective. Each woman's story is different but the problems we faced; the nightmares, substance abuse, sterility, suicidal thoughts, self-hatred and relationship difficulties show the commonness of the pain." She also added, "Despite the sadness of each woman's story, we are also able to share the help we've found to deal with the pain, which gives those still hurting hope." In another quote by Janet Morana, an Associate Director of Priests for Life and a co-founder of the Silent No More Awareness Campaign explains "We want to help women who are hurting after abortion find peace with themselves, their babies and God. This campaign and events will raise awareness about the help and love available and let them know they"re not alone." Programs like this are helpful for women to confide in but they are not effective enough to change forced abortions or to improve their laws to make them more fair. Some women don't even know that organizations like this even exist.
Not only has the One Child Policy destroyed families but it is also a sexiest issue. According to the Chinese tradition, there must be a male child in order for the family to continue. Which means that the female infants are often killed, aborted, or left to die. According to a 1992 survey, the sex ratio of newborns was 118 males for every 100 females. These statistics indicate what the world had already speculated, that there is a great amount of female infanticide occurring in China. Regardless of being a female or male all children should be treated equally and should not be favored by what sex they are. They are all human beings and should be treated like any other person in this world.
