Positive Experience

Everyday people in this world are consumed by glamour, power, and "things". No one ever considers themselves as materialistic, or wrapped up in "things", but rather they consider themselves happy and lucky. Our family used to be those people. We were at least those people until one day, one hour, one minute, one instant, our lives were changed forever; that day was the day my dad was layed off.
Up until that autumn day, our life was what you would call "glamorous". However, we were blinded by the BMWs, the fancy TV and surround sound, the great restaurants, the vacations, and the "worry free" living. We loved that we could help people out in times of need, pay off bills, and not worry about money. We could not imagine life any better; we could not imagine anything tragic happening. We imagined poorly. Just when we thought things could not get better; they did not. Life went from one extreme to the other, and all of a sudden, we had to worry about money, we had to watch what we spent, and we had to go to a more practical way of living. .
Although life seemed to be getting worse, in reality, it wasn't. It was getting better. At first, we were stressed, but wrongfully so. We were stressed because we could not tend to the ache we had to spend money, like we had grown accustomed to doing. However, the ache went away, and we finally realized that we weren't any less happy than we had been with the "glamour". We weren't any less "lucky", and we certainly were not less "blessed". Instead, we were happier, luckier, and more blessed than ever before. Growing up in a Christian household, I was always taught that my life should not be centered on "things". I never understood that until the day that everything changed. It was as if the bandages were lifted, and I could see again; I could truly live the life I was meant to live.
When I thought things couldn't get better, they got worse. When I though things couldn't get worse, they got better.
