PYGMALION COMPARISON/CONTRAST ESSAY

Pygmalion and Cinderella are both stories about a girl that lives "happily ever after" in the end. The main character that we are concentrating in Pygmalion is Eliza Doolittle, and in the story Cinderella the main character coincidently is named Cinderella. There are many similarities and differences about these two characters throughout the book. I believe that Cinderella is better off in the end of the story.
Both Cinderella and Eliza are part of a dirty lower-class society in the beginning of the book. Eliza works selling flowers on the street, and has a home with no hot water, electricity, or heat. On the other hand, Cinderella lives in a home with her "Wicked Step-Mother." Cinderella at least gets to stay in a house that is warm, and has hot water. In the beginning of the story Cinderella is better off because she has a more suitable home to live in.
They both had a decent relationship with another character or characters sometime in the book. Cinderella's friends were mostly animals. He friends were: Mice, a horse, and some birds just to name a few. Eliza had a good relationship with two people. She got along extremely well with Freddy. They both had a lot of the same interests, and liked each other immensely. Eliza also got along well with Pickering. Pickering treated her well from beginning to end. Even when she was considered "nothing" he still treated her with respect. Cinderella had a very bad relationship with her evil stepsisters, and her stepmother. Her stepmother used her for labor, and didn't care about her at all. Eliza had some problems with Higgins in the story. Higgins always treated her like scum, and didn't care even if her grammar was improving or not. I think that Cinderella had better relationships throughout the story.
In the ending of the book they both had a man that they loved very much. Cinderella got to live in a huge castle, but Eliza and Freddy had to work hard for their living in a flower shop.
