Polar Bears

Each year 150 to 200 polar bears congregate around Hudson Bay in Canada. Polar bears try to live in total darkness throughout the winter.
             The polar bears love to live out in the snow with large frozen lakes or oceans where temperatures can drop below zero. .
             The den of a polar bear is no larger than a phone booth. A popular denying area for pregnant bears is in a cave one the side of a hill covered with snow.
             The polar bears primarily eat ringed seals, bearded seals, walruses or white whales. Polar bears also eat land mammals such as the artic fox and eider ducks. Some polar bears like to eat vegetation.
             IV. Reasons For Endangerment.
             Polar bears around the world are dying because of starvation, over hunting poaching and pollution as well as global warming. They are hunted in Canada, Greenland, Russia and Alaska. They are hunted for their fur and for their food. People also hunt the polar bears to make rugs or coats. The main cause of death is from companies increasing oil and gas drillings in Alaska.
             V. Other Information bout the polar Bears.
             The mating season for the Polar Bears is in the springtime. At the age of three or five years old Polar bears start to reproduce. .
             When the cubs are born they have no fur and they cannot hear or see. They cubs are usually born in November or December. The mothers separate from their young after three years.
             Polar bear cubs are whiter than the adult bears. When the cubs are born they tend to weigh a little more than a pound and can be 12 to 14 inches long. The adult polar bears can weight up to 775 or more than 1,550 pounds. Females can weigh from 330 to 550 pound. Polar bears can be 4 feet tall on all four legs. When polar bears stand on two legs they can be as tall as 10 feet. The color of their fur is white.
             Female polar bear can be over protective over their cubs. Because male polar bears eat the cubs when they are born. Polar bears can pack in the fat; a single bear can consume 100 pound of blubber in one sitting.
