Abortion

"You"re a murderer!" the angry mob screams at the frightened woman entering the hospital. They never once consider why she's doing what she's doing, or what she might be going through. The thought of getting rid of what could be her son or daughter must be crushing. But what if that woman isn't ready for all those responsibilities? What if she can't provide a home for the child, or doesn't have the money to support it or the time to nurture such a frail creature? This woman should be allowed to do what she feels is right, and be able to deal with her body the way she wants to without being made to feel like a monster by people who have no idea what she's going through. Adoption isn't always the best solution and forcing a woman to carry a child isn't always good either because women need to have control of their own bodies.
People say that women can just put their child up for adoption, and yes they can. However, if that's the only option that women are given, I can see many problems. Women would be forced to carry what might be an unwanted child. Then, during the pregnancy, what's suppose to prevent the woman from using drugs? Women might even participate in risky activities just because of the possibility that it might kill the unborn child. It's a horrible thought, but if the unborn child is unwanted, then how could the mother be persuaded to take care and even nurture the child when she could very possibly resent that child for ruining her life. Furthermore, what happens if something goes wrong with the foster parents? There are already half a million children and youth going from foster home to foster home, and three out of ten of the nations homeless are former foster children. There are other resources like birth control, which includes emergency contraceptives, but we should try to offer as many options as possible because women can't always access those resources and we don't want these numbers to increase.
