Othello

Othello was one of William Shakespeare's famous tragedies that is very well known in today's literature and is full of action, love and treachery. .
After reading several of William Shakespeare's plays I have begun to enjoy his style of writing. My favorite character in the play is Iago. He was a man who was so evil and manipulative that he was lovable. The way he would trick and lie to people to better his situation was something that I enjoyed. He was so aware of his surroundings and what he was doing to people, and they were totally oblivious. I enjoy how Shakespeare will always have the hero die and many other people killed as well, which always makes the play interesting and makes you be very attentive. .
However, out of all of the Shakespearian plays that I have read this would be my least favorite because of its "soap opera" style. I found it somewhat complicated with regards of trying to keep track of who was in love with who and who was cheating on who. This confused me and made me not enjoy it as much. The main thing that I dislike in all of Shakespeare's plays is the irrational decisions that the tragic hero will make to cause his downfall. I find that they are ones that are not very well thought out, even though I realize t hat they must be portrayed very quickly in the play and it was also intended for the Elizabethan time period. There are many comparisons that can be found within this play to many others of Shakespeare's. The most obvious aspect would have to be the in this play in comparison would be the characters traits that Othello attains by being the tragic hero. They are identical to that of all of the tragic heroes that are written about. Othello's extreme naivety was something that irritated me; because I thought that he was smart enough to figure out that Iago was playing him. .
Othello was a very interesting play to read, very easy to comprehend if you can understand the relationships between characters.
