How Has Immigrating to Canada Changed You

Immigrating to western countries was a trend about a decade ago. I immigrated to Canada from Hong Kong at age 10, and therefore I was already able to tell the differences between Hong Kong and Canada. After I settled down in Canada, I was able to participate in more recreational activities, to gain more knowledge about Canada, and to improve my health due to the healthier environment.
When I was still attending school in Hong Kong, I rarely had any spare time to do anything other than school work. I was not able to participate in any recreational activities due to the fast paced lifestyle I was living in. But after I immigrated to Canada, school work had significantly reduced. I could finally start spending time with my neighbours and do some sports that I had never tried. In addition, my neighbourhood had a lot of spaces for me to do bike riding or just to enjoy the sunshine; whereas most of the spaces in Hong Kong are covered with buildings and roads.
             .
Immigrating to Canada gave me a chance to learn more about the traditions that exist in Canada; this expanded my knowledge of other parts of the world. My English skills were terribly poor when I first arrived in Canada. But after a year or so, I was able to catch up on what my teachers were saying at a normal pace. This was a big leap in my language proficiency that my friends and relatives in Hong Kong would be jealous of.
I was able to grow in a healthier environment after leaving Hong Kong. The air here in Canada is much cleaner because it is way less polluted. I used to be a little allergic to dust; but this problem disappeared after I moved to Canada. All the pressure I got had greatly reduced due to the fact that most Canadians live a slower paced lifestyle. Also because of this slower paced lifestyle, I stopped eating so much fast food since I could finally relax and take my time to enjoy a regular meal, which is much healthier.
