1) Josh Gibson was a catcher for the Negro League. Josh led the Negro Leagues in homeruns for ten years. There are not many players that can say they have done that. His homeruns ranged in their length from 500 feet to 580 feet! In 1972 he was elected into the Baseball Hall of Fame. I think that if Gibson had played in the Major leagues he would have been an amazing player. He had talent; sometimes better then players on the Major League teams. In the Major Leagues a player usually doesn't led in homeruns for more then a year or two; Gibson led for ten. He was a remarkable player and should have been given a chance at the Major Leagues. .
2) I think that Branch Rickey did not integrate baseball just for his teams good. I believe he saw black players that could stand up to the white. He wasn't a man with racism and wanted other players to have the chance to show their stuff. Rickey saw the talent that the black players had and wanted to bring them into the league. I"m sure there was a part of him that wanted them to help his team too. Rickey, himself was a baseball player and knew good players when he saw them. Rickey as some people say, stopped segregation. Sports are a big part of people's lives and if they see a black playing perhaps they will gradually learn to accept them into society. .
3) I do not think I could have tolerated with the treatment Robinson was given. He was ridiculed and no one cared about his thoughts and opinions. I would feel pretty lonely and stuck in someplace that was uncomfortable. On the other hand he might have felt proud to be the first black in the white man's league. I think that he accepted the treatment because he knew that someday his race would be accepted and he helped out. To some people Robinson was a hero for playing. For taking the pain and showing people that the color of your skin doesn't mean you aren't a bad player.
4) I think Frank Thomas should change his attitude.
