I"m the kind of girl who will do anything for what she wants. When I set my mind towards a certain goal, I do anything and everything until that goal is met. I believe that the longest goal I've had has been for almost four years now. That goal was to become Editor-In-Chief for the school's newspaper, The Stinger. .
I wanted to take journalism my freshman year of high school because I knew that I loved to write and that I thought journalism would be an excellent career. Yes, by my freshman year I already knew what I wanted to do as an adult. Believe me though, journalism isn't as easy as it may look. I learned an incredible amount of responsibility and of course, excellent writing skills by taking journalism. .
My journalism teacher for my first two years was a man who I learned everything about journalism from, but was a man who did not give me the chance to prove to him and myself that I can actually be an excellent journalist. I was kicked off the paper my sophomore year because of false accusations made against me by people I did a story on. Now, I obviously would know if I lied about quotes or not and I wouldn't try and lie my way out of it. I"m a horrible liar to begin with. My teacher didn't believe me and crushed my hopes of succeeding in journalism. Thankfully, he resigned that year and there was to be a new teacher the following school year. .
Like I said before, I"m not one to give up on things. I took journalism with the new teacher during the next school year. Even though I had a small editor position, I was determined to prove myself and the rest of the staff members that I"m not the person I was made out to be. .
I lived for the school newspaper my entire junior year. I became the Managing Editor of Special Projects at the end of the school year because of all the hard work I did throughout the year. At a meeting the editors had during the last days of school, another editor and myself wanted to try and have an Editor-In-Chief for the next school year since we didn't have one all year long.
