Inspirations

            A woman who has greatly influenced and shaped who I am today is my mother. My family has been my motivation to strive and work hard for the goals I have set for myself. I am not the type of person that gives up easily or complains of the roadblocks life sets in my path; they will only make me stronger not weaker. St. Matthias high school has helped me develop into a responsible young woman that takes her education seriously as well as her faith. .
             .
             Ever since childhood my mother instilled in our family, that education is an important aspect of life. My mother has worked hard to give me a high-quality education by placing me in a private school. A private school would not only give me the opportunity to grow intellectually but would also develop more deeply my Catholic faith. When my father left us my mother took it upon her to return to school and acquire her G.E.D. She worked, went to school, and sustained a household all at once. Today I am proud to say that my mother has graduated from college and was previously working as a pre-school teacher and tutor. My mother has always infused that hard work is the bases for perseverance in all that I do; she is my role model and hero.
             .
             Coming from a single family home has not been the easiest situation. Nevertheless, since an early age I made the commitment that I would be a strong independent woman. I would never have to rely on a man for any type of support. My tenacity and mother's experience would serve me as a model and reminder of the goals I need to achieve. I am a strong-willed person that will not rest until I have fulfilled all the objectives I have set for myself. .
             Attending St. Matthias High School has left me with an enduring impression that will continue with me throughout my life. They have provided me with a well-rounded education and have strengthened my Catholic faith. St. Matthias has implanted in me intellectual curiosity in various subjects and issues that affect our society today.
