Immigration

"The United States is being attacked; the United States is being attacked!- These words of pain, surprise, and confusion were apparently heard after two planes hit the World Trade Center towers, one hitting the Pentagon, and another crashing into a Pennsylvania field. People were wondering how terrorists could enter the country and hijack four planes under the government's nose. Blame was dispersed among the people, but accusation was placed on the immigration laws. Many people want America's borders to close for the safety of the citizens within the country. The borders closing down might sound like a good idea, but conflicts are developed from this thought. Strict legislation on immigration would attack the culture and economy of the United States of America. .
The United States of America has been called a giant melting pot. America is called such name because of the diversity among the people culturally. When America was first established as a country, immigrants came here with the hopes of becoming free men. The native lands of these foreigners had not provided suitable living conditions; so many people opted to have a better life by immigrating to America. Due to these races in the United States, European nations were looked at differently for the "physiological reason- that America contains "the offspring of the greatest intermingling of races- (Nichols 18-9). Immigrants from Northwestern Europe had constituted and secured a part of land in the New World to become known as the United States of America. Descendants of these progenitors began to disseminate throughout the country to create a larger variety of people. Now in the present day, mostly everyone is considered an immigrant though some are naturally-born United States citizens. If the borders should be closed, the diversity of America would be forgotten. Regulations increase the chance of the culture to be lost.
