To Move or Not

Any present day individual would agree that it would be advantageous to move when needs arise such as education, employment, and other important circumstances arise.
Ford, on the other hand, moved from one place to another place constantly to keep himself pleased. He was comfortable with change and figured life on the move was more interesting than stability and a familiar environment. Ford does not state that it is necessary for people to be constant movers, but he sympathizes with his audience by stating, "I've read someplace [ .] Americans suffer the death of a spouse, the loss of a house by fire, and moving to be the worst three things that can happen to us"(Ford 330). Moving is considered an unpleasant thing, especially for families, but sometimes it is required when certain situations arise. Ford does not consider moving to be an awful experience. This is demonstrated when he says, "But moving. Moving's another matter. Moving's not so bad. I've done it a lot"(Ford 330). Moving was one of Ford's top priorities. He explains this by stating:.
             .
To speed the getaways I've sacrificed valuable mortgage points, valuable rent deposits, valuable realtors" commissions, valuable capital gain write-offs. I've blown off exterminator contracts, forsaken new paint jobs, abandoned antique mirrors, oil paintings, ten-speeds, armoires, wedding presents, snow chains, and -unintentionally- my grandfather's gold-handled engraved with his name (Ford 330).
He leaves his grandfather's precious price-less cane behind just to make his move a little quicker and more efficient. This proves that moving repeatedly means more to him than his grandfather's cane. .
Home to most of us is a residence where we spend most of our time. Home is where most of us spend our days and nights, but Ford has a different definition for this word. Ford's definition of home is, "Home-real home-the important place that holds you, always meant that: affection, love.
