Home schooling represents .
a silent, but eloquent, reproach of the public school system. In .

reason that most families first decide on home schooling these .
days is dissatisfaction with the academic quality of the .

Home-schooled children are extremely intelligent. They .
learn not only through books like schooled children do, but they .
also learn through their parents and that is why the best .
education a parent could give his/her child is in the home .
environment. The best place for a real education is in the real .
world with real people doing real things that really matter. "It .
is not the best place where the environment is actually .
controlled by manipulative age-mates and marginally monitored by .
an adult, nor is it the best place where the child is exposed .
only to pre-planned issues" (Walsh 15). In this statement, Walsh .
is saying that the best environment for learning is not a fake .
place where the problems are made up and phony and it's not the .
best place where all the answers are found in a teacher's manual. .
The education of a home-schooled child includes observing how .
their parents function in all the different areas of the real .
world necessary to survive - food, clothing, shelter, .
transportation, communication, health, employment, finance, .
government, religion, family, friends, community, relationships, .
and much more. Such learning observations do not occur in the .
classroom where the child is sheltered from the real world. .
Better observations occur in the home and communities of .
responsive, responsible, adults who care for their children. For .
example, unlike public schooled children, home-schooled kids can .
explore their faith and philosophy without worrying about the .
separation of church and state law. .
Not only can home-schooled children learn about different .
aspects of life from their parents, they learn as much, if not .
