Who Are More Admirable

She plans to get revenge on Malvolio by writing a forged letter signed by his lady Olivia. Maria knows Malvolio's weakness and firmly believes that he will not be able to tell their writing apart as she writes similar to Olivia. She tells Sir Toby and Sir Andrew to be patient and confident, she has everything under control. She refuses to let Malvolio pursue his career of being an "ass". If Maria were living in this modern day and age, she would have been perceived as a cat. Her determination and drive suits her character perfectly. They see something and they get it, plotting carefully trying to unravel that ball of string. Compared to Sir Toby, who has not a drop motivation in life, she has that drive that many of us admire. Sir Toby drinks Canary and behaves as if he has never been polite a day in his life. It would be nice to see Maria's drive in more characters in this play. Viola is determined to get into the Duke's heart. In act 1 Scene 2 Viola says" For such a disguise as haply shall become the form of my intent. I'll serve this duke, thou shall present me as a union to him, it may be worth thy pains.". Viola is in disguise for more than one reason. In order to enter Illyria and become the Duke's heart, being in disguise is the only way. In the same scene, she says she will commit, as silence is very important. No matter how she felt for the duke, she remained in the shadow of Cesario. Viola delivered messages to Olivia and even played along when Olivia fell in love with her. She observed the way women fall for their significant others and is determined not to let it happen to her. Viola's disguise is essential to the play as well as her plan. On the other hand, Sir Andrew gives up on Olivia. He does not want to fight for her love and lets Cesario (who is believed to be Sebastian) carry on his charms. Viola will succeed, sometimes she needs to do the extraordinary, but she thinks it is worth it.
