White culture is the dominant culture and it is considered to be American culture, but white culture is not the complete American culture. There are many other cultures that make up the American society. Many other cultures within America are different from white culture but are considered American culture.
             In Kesaya Noda's article, "Growing Up Asian in America" the dialogue, reveals that Noda's identity is more American than Asian. In her writing Noda unveils her anger about the camps during WWII and her parent's passivity to go into those camps without any resistance. She is enraged by the stereotypes in the society for treating Japanese American with prejudice. In this essay relationship between Noda and her mother reveals that Noda is shocked with her mother's obedient character. These scenes and dialogue reveal that Noda identifies herself as an American. .
             To being with, everything Noda writes about in this essay supports her identity. Noda feels sorry for her parents and grandparents to having to go through experience at the camps in WWII. She writes, "Weak. I hear voice from my childhood years. Passive, I hear. Our parents and grandparents were the ones who were put into those camps. They went without resistance; they offered cooperation as proof of loyalty to America. Victim, I hear. And, silent" (Handout 401). In another words, Noda is aggravated by the injustice that is done to her parents and grand parents during the WWII. She reveals that her parents and grandparents complied and cooperated in everything to show their feelings and the love for this country. She states that her elders gave up their freedom without even saying a word just to prove their loyalty to America. In addition, Noda is mad at society for not recognizing her parents and grandparents as citizen of America. Noda considers her family to be victim since staying silent is the only choice they have to prove their trustworthiness as good resident.
