Proof For God


             Modern science aids better understanding of events surrounding the creation of the universe and so-called evolution than the creators of the theories held today could ever have known. Particularly in the areas of physics and biology, which are the home places of the Big Bang theory and the Theory of Evolution respectively, modern understanding has revealed that things are not quite as simple as once thought, and creation through the Big Bang and Evolution are not simple stepping stones that lead to us. Major evidences cited today which mathematically defy atheism include the Anthropic Principle and the discovery of irreducibly complex biological systems.
             The Anthropic Principle is a term used to describe the discovery that physics is not as straightforward cause-and-effect as it once seemed. It describes the discovery that "the existence of life in the universe depends upon a highly improbably but precise balance of physical factors-(Behe 56). These physical factors come in the form of physical constants and initial conditions, which by no means are what they are as a result of necessity in the study of their efficient cause: essentially these numbers are "features of the laws [of physics] themselves. Therefore the laws cannot explain these features; they comprise the features that we need to explain- (Behe 59). By saying that these factors' being what they are is improbable, scientists mean mathematically impossible. An example of just one such factor, an initial condition of "original phase-space volume- must have an accuracy to within one in 10 10 123 in order for life to exist (Behe 61). But some scientists still argue for a universe without design using three standard arguments.
             Many scientists today choose to ignore the Anthropic Principle altogether, saying that it doesn't require explanation. The Anthropic Principle does require explanation: "though we as humans should not be surprised to find ourselves living in a universe suited for life (by definition), we ought to be surprised to learn that the conditions necessary for life are so vastly improbable-(Behe 58).
