SCHOOL UNIFORM

Is America not a free country? So should we not have the freedom in what we wear? Do the clothes that students wear really make that much of a difference? Many schools, all around the world, public or private have uniforms or taking it under consideration. School uniforms are not necessary now since kids have their own style and by wearing uniforms they are not able to express it. First by wearing uniforms it does not allow self-expression. If a bubbly person wanted to wear bright colored clothes instead of plain colors. If she wanted to stand out, her style would be different to show her uniqueness. Also by wearing uniforms it is hiding your individuality! Uniforms suffocate adolescents from being able to express their true inner-self. Said a Westridge student. Second kids would rather wear their comfortable clothes than uniforms. When kids wear uniforms they do not feel at home. Pretend that your uniform is either long pants or skirt. It could be to hot to wear long pants so they would be forced to wear a skirt, but then they might never wear a skirt, so it would not feel natural wearing them. Also if it had to be bought somewhere made by a special person, they could be allergic to the material and then your kid would not be able to wear something else otherwise they might say it is out of uniforms and he or she would be sent home. In a survey conducted at Westridge, I found out that 16 out of 25 students prefer to wear free dress. Surprisingly, nine people liked uniforms and their main reason was that they do not have to think what they are going to wear in the morning, so then pick out your clothes the night before. Not only do kids want to wear comfortable clothes, but also it is more expensive. They would have to buy two sets of clothes, one for school and the other for the weekend. Kids would probably not want to wear their uniforms on the weekend, so then the parents would have to buy more clothes.
