Love The Body You Have

Weight discrimination is a social issue that is increasing in the society. The demand that physical appearance put on people is cruel and demeaning. People who are larger than average, suffer from discriminatory attitude in many areas of their life. Being larger than average size it's not something intentional, it is just something to happen to be either because of some glandular disorder, some health problem or because they eat a lot. But whatever the reason is, it cannot be blamed or discriminated. Unfortunately there are many aspects that have influence on weight discrimination. .
Discrimination is not inborn. It is learned and developed. The image that people get from fat people is not something that they had it from the beginning. It is learned from childhood at school, from parents, friends and television. .
People who are larger than average have to live with stereotypes in everyday life, but this become even worse when television reinforce these misconceptions. Fat people on television usually are shown eating constantly, and are represented as lazy and stupid. As Jennifer Coleman mentioned in her essay " hating fat people is not inborn. It has to be nurtured and developed. Fortunately, it is taught from the moment most of us are able to walk and speak. We learn it through Saturday-morning cartoons, prime time TV and movies. Have you ever seen a fat person in a movie who wasn't evil, disgusting, pathetic or lampooned?" in TV there are lots of humor that relies on body size and lots of joked are made from fat people. Larger size women wont be given romantic roles. Usually fat people are given negative roles. But what can be done about it? How these misconceptions, which are coming form TV shows, can be stopped? TV should stop humor that relies on body size. Larger size women should be sometimes given romantic roles instead of always playing the friend and confidante to the leading man and men attracted to larger women also.
