These were performed on floor level, set in a small studio. The dynamics of the movement are very slow, soft fluid and continuous. This is very shocking to the audience, and they are unsure of the gender in the relationship. Reference to intimate relationships through nudity, and abstract techniques are used.
DV8 Physical Theatre, like a lot of post modern dance use physical risk within their movement content. In "Never Again" Houston (a dancer) pushes Charnock off and he rolls and falls through physical risk down the stairs. This shows through Houston pushing Charnock that he is rejecting him as a hetro-sexual male creates low self-esteem. Charnock falls away from the light this could mean that he is falling from security of purity because of what is about to happen. The dynamics in this section are continuous. .
There is a solo of Anne Dewey, in which she portrays red raw emotion. She performs a repetitive motif, which includes bending of the torso, turns, lifting of the shoulders, sharp head movements and backward steps. She also stands in a position, which looks like she's a target. She uses all levels (low, mid and high).
And moves rapidly though these. The dynamic content is very fast, sharp and direct movements. The use of an enclosed space represents being trapped in a relationship. This section develops an emotional content. .
The dance is in episodes like in a film, it is fragmented and self-contained. It uses a juxtaposition of images that are layered. The music is specially choreographed for "Never Again" and the dance is choreographed to the music. Ambient music was used throughout "Never Again". .
The setting is site specific and naturalistic. It is set in a warehouse, bar, cell, derelict house, toilets, and stairs.
