Scarface

On the surface layer, the movie intittled "Scarface" might seem like just a gruesom tale about the life of a drug dealing immagrant. However, this movie has more meaning to it than this. This story goes in to detail on what some people are willing to do in chase of the American dream. Tony montana, or Scarface was a man who knew what he wanted, but did not have the patients to get it honorably. This discription fits many of today's Americans. The fact that so many people can relate to this I believe, is the reason this movie is considered a classic.
The movie's main character, Tony Montana also know as Scarface, is a Cuban immagrant who fled to America on the Mariel boatlift. He and his best friend Mannolo were forced to stay under the highway over passes in Miami Florida along with hundreds of other Cubans. When offered an opportunity to gain citizenship in return for a favor, being the careless risk taker he was, he jumped at it. This shows you that he is a risk taker and someone who gets things done. Not only did Tony gain freedom, but he was also introduced to the underground drug king Frank Lopez. This opened the door to what he belived was the American dream. Tony was raised in the absence of a father, this is the reason he got involved in crime back in Cuba. He had no male discipline growing up. His only care in the whole world was his younger sister Gina, whom he acted as her father. After recieving his first task, Tony did the ultimate favor for his newly aqquired boss. He returned from the buy with the drugs and money. This shows you that Tony was Loyal and trust worthy. Frank saw this and quickly moved him up in command.Yet,Tony refused to be someones messenger boy, as stated by Elvira, Franks girlfriend," he owns you now". I believe a person is a product of the environment they choose to place themself in. Had Tony been given the right oppertunities, he very well could have been the CEO of a major corporation.
