The public relations campaign needs to answer the public's questions about the ethical issues, exact medical use and benefits associated with gene therapy. To address the ethical issues Titan needs invite the religious community to conferences on gene therapy and educate the clergy on the benefits of having the ability relieve people of their suffering. Titan should also involve itself in ethical committees on gene therapy such as the Stanford program in Genomics, Ethics and Society or The National Gene Therapy Advisory Committee. Television ads that offer information on treatment and benefits of gene therapy in laymen's terms will appeal to the people that fear gene therapy because of their lack of knowledge on the subject. Titan should sponsor interviews with pro-gene therapy doctors and scientist. In these interviews the benefits of gene therapy curing diseases needs to be discussed along with how the medical world will use the technology. These interviews should be published in medical journals and aired on popular television talk shows. The goal of the Titan is to position gene therapy in the public perception as safe and ethical as today's medical treatment.
Controlling Regulation.
The possibilities opened up by genetics are highly regulated in most western countries. Regional and local ethical committees for hospitals, universities and research institutes strictly control genetic research and its applications in gene therapy. Titan needs to monitor the regulations on gene therapy constantly. Alliances with board members on the governing bodies will give Titan the feedback it needs to make changes in it's strategy. If possible Titan needs to put pressure on governing bodies to reduce regulation to improve the economic prospects of their investments. "Much of the research into human genetics, and especially its transfer into effective therapy, depends on there being a commercial benefit from developing and marketing a medical product.
