Prejudice

Prejudice is a word all of society is most familiar with. It appears in many forms, not just in race, color, or ethnicity. Being prejudiced against anyone because of whatever reason is unjust and morally wrong. Ignorance of being prejudiced does not justify the idea to be okay. People with this unfair mentality will be the cause of continuance of prejudice to circulate amongst the human race. Women too, have and still experience prejudice in today's society. I am very prejudiced against people, specifically men, who stereotype women. We have the same capabilities as the male sex and should be shown the same respect. Although men are seen as the dominating sex, I strongly feel that stereotyping women should not be tolerated.
Prejudice against women didn't just begin recently; in fact, it started when they weren't even given the right to vote. Women were said to be unintelligent and not capable of making important decisions. In the males" point of view, a woman's place was in the kitchen and taking care of the kids. Personally, I believe that I"m too intelligent and possess more than enough potential to do anything. I refuse to let any man or woman of the like, to tell me different because of their chauvinistic views.
Of all the experiences in my life, I've had to encounter discrimination within my own family. My brother Brandon and I are basically the same age, only separated by a month and I felt that he received more freedom than I did until I left for college. The pathetic part of the scenario is he was a year beneath me in school, I was a responsible senior and he was but a mere junior. We were both given the privilege to go out with our friends, however, the rules somehow changed. It got to the point to where he could go when he pleased and with whom he pleased. It didn't matter what Brandon wanted to do; I was the one who went through changes to have a good time with my friends.
