Romeo And Juliet

Romeo and Juliet; The Book and Movies Major Differences.
Romeo and Juliet, written by William Shakespeare was, is, and will always be considered a timeless classic to many people. Romeo and Juliet are said to be "star-crossed" as well as "death-marked" lovers (Shakespeare 1). Throughout the play as a reader it is sensed as well as assumed that the hatred between both families goes back centuries. The modern movie version of the play, Romeo and Juliet, differs from Shakespeare's play in setting and clothing, how the characters meet, how the lovers take their lives, and how the music as well as the use of color helps to set the mood. .
Romeo and Juliet is an example of one of Shakespeare's greatest plays. The story takes place in Verona, Mantua. Baz Lubrmann sets the modern day version William Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet in Verona Beach, Florida in a modern day society. There are many different settings as well as different scenes in both the play and in the movie. One such scene is when the movie starts off as a news report, as if it already happened and the news reporter is telling that already happend. In the movie Romeo and Benvolio play pool at a local pool hall in Verona. Another such scene is when Romeo is outside on the beach thinking about Rosalyn, his former obsession, in the book there is no mention of a beach being in Verona. Instead of knives and swords, they use guns that say sword on them. It seems that the director keeps showing close ups of the gun, zooming in on so the viewer can see that it says sword on it. The clothing the characters are wearing is more modern than that of the book's time period. The movie is also very busy; there are TV bulletins, police cars, guns, and many other modern day things going on in the movie (Stark np). .
In the book it traces the path that leads to the downfall of both families, as well as their beloved children, Juliet Capulet and Romeo Montague.
