Sound Of Music

As I entered the state park I immediately liked the huge dark green trees that were on either side of me. They could have been at least fifty or sixty feet high. As I went around the many curves on my way to the theater I noticed the other parts of the park. They"re where vast empty fields of rich dark green grass and many bike and walk paths for the park visitors to use. I only got to see a small portion of the park, but what I saw left an impression of serenity.
When I finally reached the open-air theater the play had just started so I quickly bought myself a ticket and water. The theater itself was a lot nicer then I had originally thought. It had a theater style lighting system, speakers all around, and even a pit for the orchestra. Which, by the way, performed perfectly. The performers themselves where of Broadway caliber. They sang their parts perfectly and with such enthusiasm that it made the musical all that more entertaining. .
The play is set in Austrian mountains before and during World War Two. Mr. Von Trapp is a Captain in the Austrian Navy. The main character of this play is Maria. She begins the musical at the Nunnberg Abbey where she is studying to be come a nun, but the other sisters feel that she should leave the Abbey and go live with the Von Trapp family for a few months to see if the life she was studying for is right for her. In Germany Hitler is gaining power and will soon bring Austria under his control. However, Capt. Von Trapp will never serve a dictator like Hitler no matter what they will do to him. .
As the musical goes on she and Capt. Von Trapp fall in love, and she realizes that she is not meant to become a nun and marries Capt. Von Trapp. Then, at a Concert Hall where the Von Trapp family is performing in a talent contest, they escape through the back entrance. The family is running from the Germans who want Capt. Von Trapp to join the navy of the Third Reich, but he would never serve under a regime that promotes hatred and oppression towards the fellow man.
