Why does she need to look so sultry and seductive when the magazine is "For women of the world," as the magazine claims? It all comes back to who dominates society and how that dominance has affected media and fur!.

I can attest that these pictures on the covers of magazines as I check out of any market are always catching my eye as I push my shopping cart past the magazine section. The cover is basically giving women a guideline on how women are supposed to look for their men. Women are almost forced to maintain a certain look and keep up to what men want through what they read and see in front of them every day.

The main article's title on the cover was very comical. It said it all in one little phrase. The article read, "Make the Most of Your Looks: 635 Fashion & Beauty Best Buys". 635!!! Is this what women go through to try to make themselves "pretty" for their boyfriends? THIS is why it takes so long for my date to get ready when we go to the movies. There is so much emphasis on physical beauty in media today that a magazine is able to make this their main article. Physical beauty is so ingrained in our culture, that most readers wouldn't bat an eyelash when looking at what they are about to read; taking a step back, however, it's obvious that media says, "We HAVE to be this, or we HAVE to be that". This was only the first step into the pool of conformity and submission of women. .
Articles lined the edges of the cover of the magazine that further went on to put women on a level where they seemed to be searching for meeting a certain standard, or pleasing a certain person. There are a lot of bad haircuts but a women should be able to be able to make her own choice about what she thinks is stylish rather than having to read about what she is supposed to get her hair to look like.
