Though evil may seem to be very powerful it actually starts the demise of the persons being evil. This is because evil persons are generally mean and nasty, even with each other. "The slaves of the dark lord, the orcs, are shown always angry and disagreeing with each other. Evil is ultimately self destructive- (Degallier, 5). In the novel they actually started killing one another over whether or not they should eat the halflings (the hobbits merry and pippen). The orcs were given orders by Saruman to bring the hobbits back unspoiled, yet the evil within the orcs sparked controversy over the orders given by their evil leader, Saruman. So how could an evil such as this take over all of middle earth when they can't agree on simple orders such as this. In The Count Monte Cristo Fernand betrayed his best friend Dantes' so he could get Dantes' Fiancé Mercedes. Fernand's betrayal of his best friend seemed to have worked in his favor for a while. Though the evil Fernand was then confronted by his former friend Dantes some years later and Fernand lost all he had acquired Good people have more to strive for because what they want makes them happy and it satisfies them, evil people like Fernand seem to stay angry no matter what they get and are always unsatisfied, wanting more but never getting enough. Just like in Lord of the Rings, Sauron and Saruman were both very powerful people and knowledgeable as well, but they wanted control of the world because they were unsatisfied with what they had. The characters that are good in these books only want peace and justice, this is what they strive for, that is what they get, and that is what they are satisfied with. .
The war between good and evil is never ending because people will always give into dark temptations and desires. Some people just don't have the will power to keep those feelings hidden, and while there are people doing things that are wrong, there are people here who are going to attempt to correct it.
